    WoWAce going away!

    http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=14316.msg230826#msg230826

Unfortunately, these cold realities have forced me to make some hard decisions in relation to these features. files.wowace.com will be discontinued, in its place we'll be using the same syndication framework as CurseForge.

In addition, WAU will, for the time being, be discontinued as well as it won't be receiving any new content.

Um, did you note the part about files.wowace.com going away?  The HOSTING of the WoW Ace files?

Seriously not a big deal.. the files themselves aren't going away, just being moved into the curse framework so WoWMatrix just has to repoint their links.

WoWMatrix = better and better customer service, if you will.  I think it's personally simpler.  It even reads your addons directory for you to know if you've added something, rather than having to manually add it.  And you can still go through a list of addons that you don't have and add that, too.  Its the next generation of addon "menu" systems.

FYI, I already use WoWMatrix and have for a long time.  I am making others aware of the issue in advance just in case.

Yeah, most of us already knew this was coming.  At least a month ago, everyone was talking about switching to wowmatrix to try and keep their updates going..especially anyone using the Ace Updater that was already taken down.  Thanks for the heads up for anyone that hasn't heard of wowmatrix though.  It's a huge timesaver! :D

Oh, sorry Kard, I thought you had just heard and were panicking, I was just trying to reassure you and others that there was other (and better) software out there to use.  Sorry about the misunderstanding.

    Re: WoWAce going away!

WoW Matrix is the new WowAceUpdater.  The guy who developed Ace and WAU decided he wasn't making enough money to support his addiction and decided to drop the idea of continuing development.  Curse has subsequently picked up all his stuff and was supposed to be releasing a new updater client, but...as all things beta and hd-dvd...if you can't catch on or catch on quick enough...then you lose out.

One of the things I learned about Wowmatrix is that it scans the addons before it downloads them to your machine to make sure they have no malicious code in them.  I like that.
