The Trimmer Way
(version 2.3)
Summary: The Trimmers are a
cross-game MMO gaming guild. In general the Trimmers are made up of
people who have the skill and background to be obsessive power
gamers, but have Real Lives ™ and understand the importance of
balance in our hobby. Trimmers have no required time period or
activity, but if you are engaged in a Guild activity, you are
expected to adhere to high standards of discipline, ethics, and
loyalty.
PvP, Discipline, and Honor
There are many
flavors of Guild. RP, Raid, PvP, etcetera. THE TRIMMERS ARE, FIRST
AND FOREMOST, A PVP GUILD. We carry on and enjoy a number of PvE
activities, but our end goal will always be PvP.
There are many
flavors of PvP Guild. SIZ (Spam Invite Zerg), RP, Class/Race only,
etcetera. The rarest and most powerful trait in a guild, particularly
a PvP guild, is discipline and this is the focus of the Trimmers. The
theory and practice of this would fill more space than is available
to us, but feel free to discuss this with any officer.
Angels
As an angel, you are in what many guilds would call a
probationary period. This serves a function for you as well as the
guild. This time period can be as little two weeks but its length
depends on how well our members get to know you after which time you
may be elevated to Principality. The quickest way to become a
Principality is to team with other Trimmers.
It is the
responsibility of all Trimmers to report on Angels to our officers.
We want to ensure that anyone we invite to join our family is really
Trimmer Material ™.
We find that sharing this
responsibility with our Guild members ensures that the Guild as a
whole has greater input, rather than a few making all of the
membership dependent upon the good will of a few. The core reason we
want this type of feedback is that we don't want to let anyone into
our family who is not excellent. They become trusted family members,
so our standards are necessarily high.
For you, take this
time to get to know us as we get to know you. Our Resource and Loot
sharing policies are fairly unconventional and not for everyone. You
are not part of them until you are a principality, neither sending
nor receiving items and materials. As well, every Guild has an
underlying culture. Take your time and get a feel for ours. Make sure
it is a good fit for you. We hope it is!
Structure
The Trimmers strive to remain a bottom heavy organization.
That is, our officers are few. This is done in part to ensure that
every Trimmer who desires a chance to lead has it. If you are already
leading a group with a Trimmer officer in it, you are not required to
give over leadership. In fact, you are not even encouraged to. This
is entirely your choice. The only difference is that an officer WILL
step up if you decide you do not want to lead.
All Officer
ranks are voluntary.
The majority of officers are
Dominations or Powers, Powers being officers-in-training. A
Domination is a dedicated squad leader (i.e. if a leader is needed,
the Domination will ALWAYS step up to lead). The Domination will have
a variety of roles at any given time. The main role of the Domination
is to organize and lead specific mission types (i.e. Core Attunement
runs), and anything else that helps the Guild as a whole. Dominations
will put groups together. Dominations and Powers are also acting
Missionaries, which are members who are involved with the recruitment
of new Angels. Dominations, are not involved in the
policy-making of the guild.
Above Domination is the rank of
Throne. Thrones are considered to be advisers of the guild, their
presence in game may be minimal, but their vast knowledge and experience are priceless.
Above Throne is Cherub. In addition
to the duties of Thrones and Dominations, the Cherubim have massive
areas of responsibility. Each Cherub is responsible
for maintaining overall guild health, keeping up with the resource
masters, and enforcing the Trimmer Way.
Above Cherub is
Seraph. This is Berachiah (aka Kendrage).
Interacting with
other Trimmers
We use an alternative chat channel for
chatting in game. We reserve /g for linking items. This is done so
people can leave the alternative chat channel during a raid
without missing out on items linked to the membership. You are
expected to be on this channel 95% of the time.
Trimmer
TS: TeamSpeak is an essential Guild tool. Trimmers who wish to
avoid general chatter may use the Quiet Room part of our WoW TS
section. Trimmers are not required to speak, but are required to be
able to listen. Officers are required to have working microphones.
This ensures rapid action when needed and is a great boon to our
Guild. Never give out this information. It is available here, in the
forums. Trimmers should spend 95% of their game time on TeamSpeak.
Angels may have access to Trimmer TS only during raids and PVP, and
they will be given guest accounts.
Forums
Trimmers
are required to access the forums regularly. Daily is recommended as
events, items, builds, and general information are all exchanged.
Additionally, this is a great place to get to know your guild.
Checking the forums before you play is a great idea.
Resources/Loot
PLEASE NOTE: Angels are not expected to donate anything to
the guild, nor are they allowed to receive anything.
Trimmers may pool resources to maximize Guild efficiency, this is
not required. Resources/Loot can be split by color: Gray, White,
Green, Blue, And Purple. There is no difference between dropped and
gathered items. They are all Resources.
Do your best, when
grouping with non-Trimmers, to ensure a fair distribution of items.
Pay particular attention to making sure that anyone who will use an
item gets it. After that, seek an even distribution, while respecting
class differences.
Gray items, when gained solo are yours to
sell. When gained in a group, an even split should be made, before or
after the gray items are sold. In a Trimmer Raid all gray items are
sold for the guild bank. Anyone can sell these gray items and send
the money to anyone of Domination rank or above, listed as raid cash.
White items are useable in some recipe or for an effect. If
the item is used for an effect (i.e. food or a scroll), it is yours
to use or sell as you see fit. If it does not have an effect and you
do not have a need for it, another Trimmer may. We keep a stockpile
and any White items you do not have a need for should be sent to the
appropriate Resource Master:
Spinnah: Linen, Wool, Silk,
Mageweave, Runecloth, Felcloth, Mooncloth and Netherweave should all be sent
here.
Domimatra: If it is from skinning it goes here. If
something that comes from skinning is found elsewhere, i.e. a chest,
it goes here.
Jibba: If it was gathered with herbalism, it
goes here. If something that comes from herbalism is found elsewhere,
i.e. a chest, it goes here.
Canary: If it comes from a mine,
it goes here. If something that comes from mining is found elsewhere,
i.e. a chest, it goes here.
Dewy: If it is either a Recipe or a
Quest page, it goes here (i.e. Green Pages of Stranglethorn).
Reajent: Anything that does not fall under the other
categories goes here. Ichor, Essence, Elemental X, Spider Silk, Body
Parts, Pearls, Fish, etcetera.
Nethyrizer: Nethyrizer
receives all enchanting items that are not going to be used by a
player.
Tiphany: All gems or gem materials are sent here.
During larger, i.e. 25 or 40 man raids, the Trimmers use a DKP
system called EPGP.
Ethics
TRIMMERS DO NOT
EXPLOIT, EVER. TRIMMERS DO NOT KILL QUEST GIVERS OR WIND RIDER
MASTERS. TRIMMERS ARE NOT HERE TO GRIEF.
PvP Discipline
PvP discipline is very, very simple. Do what your squad
leader says and do it now. If the order comes to return to the
Crossroads south gate, that means return now. NOT after you kill your
enemy. NOT after you gather an herb. NOT anything other than return
to the crossroads south gate NOW.
Discipline means we follow
orders when they are given, immediately, that we move together, that
we coordinate our efforts, and that we assist.
